Oral Presentation Reflection

My last comment in this wall. So I will share my feelings about our Monday’s presentation with emotion.
I have already read some feedback, (yes I know, I am a cheat but it does not matter as my blog post will be more interesting) and I do not totally agree with my teammate. I think we did a good job and I give us the grade 10/10 though I know Ms Lim will not do so ( and it may be understandable)... Of course we could have done more rehearsals (but we have already done many, and it could have been too many). But I thank my team mates for having been motivated for so many rehearsals, thanks to them I know that a presentation can be rehearsed in details.
I am proud of our job, because it is also important to be proud and happy of what we did. It is just in thay way that one can be confident and it is certainly the most important point for a good presentation. Because when you are confident other are more peaceful as they know the situation is under control.
On top of that I am quiet happy because I know that I improved a lot during this semester in all aspects of communication. No matter if it is not the perfection as the perfection cannot be reached.
All in all, it is important to be proud of what we accomplish every day and be confident of ourselves, but the most important point is also to keep improving by pointing out some points that we can improve. The most effective way to find them is to ask to your friends. As I consider you as my friends I am waiting for your comments and tips: Please I want to improve…

Evaluating Intercultural Behavior

The world is like a “salad bowl” with many different cultures.
It is really one wonderful point of mankind. Everybody is different, making meeting and exchanges between men and women very exciting.
However this cohabitation of different cultures can create disagreements or wars. I was deeply hurt during my trip in the middle east of the diseases created by the intercultural gap that exists between Israel and Palestinians. I met students from Palestinian Universities and Israeli Universities. I realized that even if all of them were very different (different religion, opposite reasons to fight…) all were suffering of the same manner of this war.
At the first glance each of them seemed to have a good reason to hate the opposite side, however while going through discussion I realized that this war was due to a lake of dialogue between each side. Indeed they were building there own misfortune due to an inappropriate intercultural behavior.
To conclude we can say that intercultural gap is an opportunity to discover different ways of living, but it can also create conflicts. It is up to us to have a good intercultural behavior by always trying to understand the state of mind of our interlocutor.

Resolving interpersonal conflict

This interpersonal conflict occurred last year during an internship that I made in the High Speed Train maintenance center near Paris.
It was about the choice of a method to solve a problem. Indeed both were right and wrong for some aspects of their solutions. They argued during hours as there were alighting incorrect aspects of the other’s solution.  Therefore they didn’t agree on a solution and I had to explain to each other that by combining both solutions it was possible to find a better solution.
The problem was they did not listen each other but tried to find counterarguments. However by combining their solutions they could find a very good way to go through the matter. Indeed this interpersonal conflict was due to an inefficient dialogue between them because they didn’t take the other’s  advices  as a help but as a reproach.
According to you is an inefficient dialogue the most common reason for interpersonal conflict?

The cover letter of my dream?

Dear Sir,

I study at XXXX in second year and I am looking for an internship in the power field from May to August. From the AREVA web site I learned that AREVA is the only engineering firm in the United States working in every stage of the nuclear fuel cycle. However I did not see any advertisement for an internship. Since I am very interested in working to AREVA because it should be the best way to use all my knowledge about electro technique, project management or computer science, I write you to know if there is an opportunity to do an internship in your company.

I have already worked with Anglo-Saxon teams during my latest internship when I was in charge of the monitoring of spare parts of the hight speed train. On top of that I am studying at the XXX which gives me the opportunity to practice my English in the fields of computer science, data management, mathematics or macro economy. I really enjoy working with international team partners that is the reason why I am looking for an internship in the USA. I would prefer work in quality or engineering services because these fields interested me particularly however I am ready to work in any service of your company if you fell it more useful.

Attached is a copy of my resume, which more fully details my qualifications.

I look forward to talking with you regarding possibilities of internship in AREVA.

Yours Faithfully,

My signature
